White Paper Title:
TECHNICAL NOTE - Types of Concrete Carbonation
Sean Monkman, PhD PEng, Vice President of Technology Development,
Weathering carbonation – a process by which carbon dioxide in the atmosphere harms mature concrete – is often confused with early age carbonation. CarbonCure Technologies focuses on using early age carbonation, which doesn’t have the same negative impacts as weathering carbonation, but rather produces stronger concrete and permanently sequesters CO2 in the structure. Since the CO2 is added during the mixing stage, it does not negatively affect the concrete or the ferrous reinforcement.
