Dr. Sean Monkman, VP Technology at CarbonCure Technologies, will be moderating and presenting within a technical session at the upcoming American Concrete Institute Spring 2016 Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The event runs April 17th to 20th at the Hyatt Regency & Wisconsin Center.
Sean has organized a technical session entitled "Further Investigations of Carbon Dioxide Utilization in Concrete" which serves as a follow up to the successful session he organized in the previous convention in Denver. This session will be among the very first sessions at the convention. It will run from 1 to 3 pm on Sunday the 17th at room 202-B in the Wisconsin Center.
Dr. Monkman will conclude the session with a presentation titled "Case Study in Using CO2 to Optimize Cement Savings in Ready Mixed Concrete". The work is co-authored with Kevin Cail (CTO at CarbonCure Technologies), Mark MacDonald (Director of Research at CarbonCure Technologies) and John Cook (Director of Technical Services at Thomas Concrete).
The presentation will review the success that Thomas Concrete has had in using the strength benefit provided by the CarbonCure Ready Mix system as a platform to optimize their mix designs. Cement reductions of 3 to 5% have accompanied use of a new installation of a permanent CarbonCure system. The avoided CO2 emissions related to the cement cut are reducing the carbon footprint of the concrete being shipped making Thomas Concrete the first ready mixed concrete producer to unlock the environmental benefit of using the CarbonCure system.
